Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy through the use of essential oils is a holistic approach to better health and well-being. Essential oils come from the natural extracts of a plant’s stems, leaves, bark and/or flowers. Essential oil distillation is an art first cultivated in Persia in the 10th century.
Our sense of smell comes from our olfactory receptors. These powerful receptors are connected to nerve endings in our brain and help us to memorize memories through the use of smell. Eons ago, our ancient ancestors used this smell memory to help them survive harsh environments by knowing the positive and negative qualities of the things they smelled.
When we smell something, the aroma affects our sensory organs, our brain and our nerves. This is true for both pleasant and obnoxious odors. Such can affect our nerve endings that connect to our heart and lungs in both good and bad ways.
Aromatherapy can help manage sleep apnea, pain, stress, anxiety, mood swings, digestive issues, ease headaches and help boost the immune system.
